Seven records fall during meet

San Rafael Junior High and Canyon View Junior High met before the school year ended in the annual county days track meet.
In this meet each of the grades compete against each other and boys and girls events are held separately.
The meet for the 2008 season was held at the Emery High School track. Seven records fell this year, six of which were in the javelin throw, with one in the 100 meter hurdles.
In the ninth grade girls division, D’Lee Gardner of Canyon View set a new record for the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 17.90. Another ninth grader, Shelby Mason of San Rafael, threw the javelin 59 feet 4 inches to set a new record for that division.
Whitney Withers, also of San Rafael, set a javelin record for the eighth grade girls division with a throw of 64 feet 6 inches. Kelsey Gordon of Canyon View, threw the javelin 58 feet 6 inches for a new seventh grade girls division record.
For the boys divisions, Tyrell Clement of Canyon View threw the javelin 113 feet 8 inches to set a new record for the ninth grade. San Rafael’s Kalen Reynolds threw the javelin 101 feet 4 inches for a new record for the eighth graders.
In the seventh grade competition, Corbin Barnett of San Rafael threw a new record of 71 feet 7 inches in the javelin throw.
