The “Old Mill Camp,” Ferron Chapter of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers in honor of the 125th Anniversary of the settlement of Ferron (1877-2002) has available for advance sale a commemorative memory afghan. This afghan has 11 images woven into its fabric of historical as well as current Ferron sites. “The finished afghan is a beautiful and lasting memento and heirloom for anyone with a love of Ferron or its history,” said Jo Sansevero from DUP.
The top row of images shows four churches in Ferron’s history. The “Old Molen LDS Church” built by the original settlers, long gone but has such a history, this church has been twice destroyed by fire rebuilt each time and a treasure to the old time residents of Ferron. Also in the top row of images are the Presbyterian Church and the Baptist Church both integral to Ferron’s story. Included in the images are the Millsite Spill Way, Ferron Merc as it appeared in the 1950s and 1960s. No memory afghan of Ferron would ever be complete without South Emery High School. So many memories of Ferron, for those of us old enough to remember, are centered in the events and activities that ran down the halls of Old South Emery.
“The commemorative afghan will make a wonderful gift for friends or family members no longer living in Ferron or a special decorative item for your own home. The afghan is available for advance orders immediately. We will continue to have the afghans for sale through the summer but following the July 4 holiday date the price will increase. So don’t miss this opportunity to be the proud owner of one of these beautiful and historical memory afghans,” said Sansevero.
