4-H students from throughout the county gathered at the 4-H Horse Show on June 6 at the Castle Dale Arena. The students were judged on horsemanship and showmanship. They took a test and answered true and false questions on chapters in their 4-H horse book. They lead their horses by the halter and they were judged on how well their horses performed. They are also judged on how they sit. They have bareback and also participate in a scurry race where they jump six small jumps placed around the ring, then they run around a barrel. They also do poles and barrels. The judges tally the scores and the participants win ribbons and they pick a prize off of the prize blanket. There are three age divisions, beginning, intermediate and advanced. The next 4-H horseshow is on June 20 at 5 p.m. at the Castle Dale Arena.
