“Emery County, a great place to live, work, and play.”
A slogan that was created several years ago to promote Emery County.
It is simple and yet so profound.
Hi my name is Steve Kemple I am your write-in candidate for Emery County Commissioner.
I ask for your support on Nov. 4th .
My wife Ruth and I moved to Emery County in 1982 to start and raise our family. I believed then and believe now that there is not a better place in the world to live and raise a family. Ruth and I have raised three children. We have six grandchildren and two on the way. I have a pioneer heritage here. I am a direct descendant of Ann Jewel Rowley and her daughter Jane Rowley, who crossed the plains with the Willy Handcart Company.
With declining revenue and sky rocketing prices, with special interest groups wanting to restrict the use and even close some of our public lands, with limited water availability and slow economic development, our county is facing a great number of challenges.
Our county government cannot afford to be distracted by the troublesome legal issues that have been in recent headline news. We need all of our elected officials focused on the best interest of the county, and working towards a bright and prosperous future for our children and grandchildren.
If elected, I will bring to the table my conservative values and 23 years of experience in county government.
I will work for you, and help move the county forward, so that we can always say that: “Emery County is a great place to live, work, and play.”
Experience:
Twenty three years Emery County Road Department.
Thirteen years supervisor-crew leader.
Ten years county road department safety coordinator.
Nine years county risk management board member, one year vice-chairman, one year chairman.
Emery County addressing committee member.
Ten years Ferron City volunteer fire fighter, three years as an officer.
Certified EMT-I, 11 years Emery County ambulance.
Served in many church leadership positions.
It has been an amazing past few weeks. While I have been campaigning I have met so many of you who are excited about my candidacy. I have been working hard to try to make up for lost time. I am at somewhat of a disadvantage by being a write-in candidate. I do not have a large political party financing my campaign, paying for newspaper ads, buying campaign signs, etc… With the generosity of a few contributors and a rapidly depleting savings account, my wife and I have set out to try to make positive difference in the political scene here in Emery County. We are doing what we believe is the right thing to do, and that is to offer my experience of many years of dealing in, and with county government. Instead of just complaining about what has been going on in the county I decided to try to do something about it, and make a real difference. I believe that our county deserves the very best from their elected officials, and after I am elected I will do just that.
I would like to take the opportunity to dispel a rumor that has been floating around. It has been said that someone, or some group has talked me into running as a write-in candidate, only to take a victory away from one of the other candidates. This is not true. There is not a conspiracy to derail anyone’s campaign. I am not trying to take away votes from one in order to help the other. I am serious about being a candidate for the office of county commissioner. I want to be elected for what I have to offer and not for being the lesser of any evils. I have a high regard for both of my opponents. Both of them have served our communities, and have done much good, but I believe that it’s time for a change. I am not your typical politician, I am just a blue-collar working man who is tired of hollow promises and agendas that are not in the best interest of the citizens of the county.
