ST. GEORGE-John Keith Albrecht, 88, died of cancer, Oct. 23, 2008, in St. George, Utah. He was born Aug. 29, 1920 in Fremont, Utah to Claude M. and Laprele McKnight Albrecht. His family moved to Minersville, Utah where he spent his youth. He graduated from Beaver High School. He attended the BAC and Utah State University. He married Patricia June Scrivener on Sept. 7, 1948 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
Keith taught Vocational Agriculture and was an FFA Advisor at Roosevelt High School (two years) and Emery County Schools (34 years), where he raised his family in Ferron, Utah. The family also lived in Tonga for three years where he was a teacher at Liahona High School. Keith was the president of the Utah State Vocational Agricultural Association for two years. He was president of the Southeastern Livestock Show and on the Ferron Peach Day Committee. He retired to St. George, Utah in 1992. He loved livestock and gardening. Spending time with his family was his greatest joy.
Keith was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He filled a mission as a young man in the Eastern Canadian Mission. He has served as bishop, high counselor, and temple ordinance worker. He served in the Suva-Fiji Mission with his wife on the island of Tarawa.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the European Theatre. He was a member of the American Legion and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Keith is survived by his wife, Patricia of St. George and seven children: Nancy (daughter) and Richard Judd, Karen (daughter) and Michael Johnson, Harriett (daughter) and Scott Reid, Kent (son) and Sherrie Albrecht, Ann (daughter) and Gary Temple, Sandra (daughter) and Kelly Stacey, and Stuart (son) and Sarah Albrecht. Keith and Patricia have 24 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Keith is also survived by Sheldon Albrecht (brother). Preceded in death by parents, Milton Albrecht (brother), Elaine Anderson (sister), and Brent Johnson (grandson).
The family would like to express its deep gratitude and appreciation to Dixie Regional Medical Center third floor nursing staff, and Dr. Robert Lemon, who provided extraordinarily warm and loving care.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 25, 2008, at 2 p.m., at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 West St. George Boulevard, St. George, Utah. A visitation was held Friday, from 6:30-7:30 p.m., and Saturday from 12:30-1:30 p.m., both at the mortuary.
