I, Sam Singleton, was born in Ferron and am proud that I have lived here my entire life. I am proud of my heritage and for the people in Castle Valley who have made my life so rewarding.
I graduated from South Emery High School, and Carbon College (now the College of Eastern Utah). I received a Bachelors Degree from Brigham Young University and a Masters Degree from Utah State University. I wanted to make Ferron my permanent home and things happened that made this possible. The most rewarding years of my life were the 41 years I was in education, working with the wonderful youth of our area. I spent two years in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict that also enriched my life immensely.
As an educator, I enjoyed working with all aspects and challenges that faced our youth. My most choice experiences were the hours spent with students who had special needs, both physically and mentally. These moments are still priceless. There are many challenges facing our present generation of school students. I work diligently to help them meet those challenges. As a member of the Emery County School Board, I will continue to make our educational system meet the challenges that face our most priceless commodity-our students, who will be tomorrow’s leaders.
