Volunteers Needed

Look for Two New Books


The Emery County Domestic Violence Coalition is promoting awareness and education by donating two new books to help with this problem in our community. Check out these books at your own local library. For more information call Kathy Anderson at 381-4743.

Ferron Babe Ruth Ball


Parents of children ages 7-12 interested in playing Babe Ruth Baseball are encouraged to attend a meeting on March 5, at 7 p.m. at Ferron City Hall. Questions? Call Monte Gee at 384-3195.

Daffodil Days


Orders for bunches of daffodils are now being taken by the American Cancer Society. For a small fee you can brighten someone’s day with the flower of hope. Deliveries March 11-15. To order, call Cathy Sitterud (381-5647).

Neighborhood Crime Watch Meeting


On March 6, at 6 p.m. there will be a meeting at the Huntington Sub-Station, next to Hometown Market. Programs, Youth Crime Watch America, and What’s Happening in the Community. Multicultural Performance


Multicultural Services of Utah will present a one night, ninety minute performance on March 6, at 7 p.m. at the Emery High Auditorium. Tickets are affordable for individuals and families. A Sunshine Project


Varsity Troop 315 is selling Sunshine (Grade A manure). This money will be used by the troop to pay for summer camp. It’s Track Time


Registration for the Emery County Track Team will be March 13-14 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center. 3 on 3 Basketball


A “3 on 3” basketball tournament for men, women and youth in grades 4-12 will be March 16 all day at the Emery High Spartan Center. The parent/teacher conference at Canyon View Jr. High for 2nd semester will be held over two evenings: Tuesday, March 19, and Wednesday, March 20, from 4-7 p.m. Some teachers will be available for just one session as follows: March 19, – David Bird, Tiffany Sorensen, Jackie Weihing, and Doug Mecham; March 20, – Reed Fehlberg, Kathryn Emery, and Creig Cox. No school on March 21.

The College of Easten Utah’s annual Founders’ Day is set for March 23. Events will be groundbreaking for new Reeves Main Building at 4 p.m. at east parking lot on 400 North, a reception for honorees and families at 5 p.m. at the College Center; a dinner at 6 p.m. followed by the awards. Friends of the Braithwaite Fine Arts Gallery present Rembrandt: The Consummate Etcher and Other 17th Century Printmakers. World of the Wild


Utah’s Hogel Zoo’s call for the “wild” is going out once again to all Utah artists with a 9th Annual Art Show taking place now until April 14. Catch this “World of the Wild” exhibit and see your favorite animals at the same time.

Describe Your Town


Mayors want to know what young people think about their communities. 4th-7th graders can submit their views in the “Why I Like My Community” essay contest through their teacher at school or by calling 1-800-852-8528. Deadline is March 1.
