4-H Cake decorating camp

As a part of the activities for the youth in the 4-H program, Dawnette Tuttle is teaching cake decorating classes in Castle Dale City park. Each Tuesday and Thursday morning at 10 a.m. for two weeks in July, the cake decorating students gathered to learn how use a decorating bag and tips.
The first class was attended by 18 children and McKayla McNee, a third year student of the class was Tuttle’s helper. McNee handed out the booklets containing instructions for handling cakes and recipes for making decorators icing. The children were also given a kit containing a decorator’s bag with three of the most useful tips.
Tuttle and McNee filled each of the student’s bags with prepared icing and began instructing them on the types of designs which could be achieved with the tips in the kits. On the tables was waxed paper for the students to practice on. One benefit was the students could eat their mistakes.
When a certain level of expertise was established, McNee handed out big sugar cookies to each decorating artist and they were instructed to decorate the cookies with their just learned skills, and eat their work.
In the coming classes, the students will learn how to use colored icing to add more decorative effects to items. Students registered for the classes are: Jessica Olsen, Emily Olsen, Sidnee Conder, Allison Ockey, Savannah Woolsey, Camrey Johnson, Hayden Johnson, Jadree Huntington, Trinidee Bell, Kaileen Wright, Brooklyn Olsen, Jaelyn Pierce, Lexy Cox, Faith Grindley, Afton Grindley, Ashton Bell, Jarica Barnett, Sydney Timothy, Sydnee Guymon, Devan Guymon, Brettlyn Tuttle, Tambrie Tuttle, Triston Tuttle, Brodie Tuttle and Leya Harvey.
