HUNTINGTON-Melvin “Dale” Christensen, age 68, passed away peacefully at his home on Oct. 28, 2009. He was born to Nels and Irene Christensen on Oct. 30, 1940 in Huntington, Utah. He married Edna Dorrine Tucker on Oct. 17, 1962. He then remarried her in the temple on April 27, 1977.
Dale was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was an avid supporter of Bikers Against Child Abuse, Southeast Chapter. He loved being with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. He enjoyed hiking, hunting, fishing, bird watching, and feeding the hummingbirds. He also loved playing his guitar and flutes. He was very gifted at working with wood.
He worked at Deer Creek for 27 years as a member of local union 1769. Dale was loved and liked by all who knew him and will greatly be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Dorrine Christensen; his children: Barbara (James) Durand of Ferron, Utah, Robin (Michael) Gordon of Huntington, Utah, and Nels Christensen of Huntington, Utah; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; his sisters: Darlene (Clyde) Thompson of Castle Dale, Utah, and Verlene (Gary) Cities of Lakeside, Calif.; brothers: Elwood (Judy) Christensen of Southgate, Calif., and Alan (Bonnie) Christensen of Ogden, Utah; and his beloved cat Darla.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Nels Christensen and Irene Olson; his sisters: Margie and Magde; and brother, Val.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington LDS Third Ward Chapel (240 North Main). There was a viewing Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale from 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Huntington City Cemetery.
