Local couple to appear on”Here come the newlyweds” May 25

Jed and Sarin Hinkins will appear in the show “Here Come The Newlyweds” which is a romantic comedy reality series. It will air on, May 25 on ABC. Nine just-married couples will compete for a life-changing cash prize to help kick-start their new lives together and realize their dreams, on the season premiere of the one-hour romantic comedy reality series.
Hosted by comedian Pat Bullard, “Here Come the Newlyweds” is all about relationships, the differences between men and women, and the universal issues that every couple must face. The newlyweds are diverse, sexy and competitive, and include pairings that range from couples who met at a date auction, a rock concert and church to a couple reunited after 10 years apart.
In this eight-episode series, each couple faces a variety of mental and physical challenges which will test the love and passion they have for one another as well as their competitive spirit. At the end of each episode, the field will be narrowed as the couples vote to send one couple home. The stakes get higher as the potential nest egg grows, until one couple ultimately wins the grand prize. In the premiere episode, “The Battle of the Sexes,” the nine newlywed couples are put on the spot to reveal their first impressions of the couples they will be competing with, and there’s a men vs. the women paintball battle, with the losers cooking breakfast for the winning sex. The couples’ communication skills are tested when the blindfolded husbands strip down to their skivvies while their wives instruct them where to find their clothes. The winning couple of this challenge will earn safety from elimination. Those eager to take home the big cash winnings are:
Marlo and Mark Corliss of Yarmouth Port, Mass., Ashley and Matt Cox from Smyrna, Tenn., Sarin and Jed Hinkins from Emery County, Utah, Brendan and Bridget Huffman from Philadelphia, Penn., Michele and Sonarak Ieng from Fairfax, Va., Makayla and Kenny McMorris from Omaha, Neb., Audra and Rich Newbery from San Francisco, Calif., Katie and Nick Oskowski from Mentor, Ohio, and Andrea and Matt Smith from Cottonwood Heights, Utah.
Jed Hinkins said, “This is the second season of the show and it will be on Monday right after the Bachelorette at 9 p.m. It was filmed in California and there are nine couples participating. We got to know the other couples through questionaires and activities. During the show we compete against the other couples.”
Sarin Hinkins said, “It was absolutely fun. We first watched the show last season and we loved it. It was exciting, competitive and interactive. During the last episode they asked for contestants to apply for this year’s season. So we filled out an application just for fun and we were accepted. Every day has just been a blast. It was very exciting.”
The Hinkins were in California for the shooting of the show for six weeks. Sarin said, “It’s a family oriented show. In one episode we ticipate in paint balling. We absolutely love paint balling, Jed and I, so that was so much fun.”
Jed said, “You learn more about your spouse with the different games they play. The whole experience has brought us closer together.”
Sarin said, “Going into the competition our only goal was to have fun. We didn’t really focus on winning or anything. We just really enjoyed each other and being with the other couples. The whole atmosphere was very fun and very friendly. We have made lifelong friends.”
Jed said, “During the week they held activities and games and you can win the competition or you can choose safety. Each week one of the couples is voted to go home. That is a tense part of the show.”
“We would do this again it was so fun. I really wish all newlyweds could go through something like this because you really get to know each other better.”
Jed took the semester off of school so he could particpate in the show. Sarin’s boss was very supportive and allowed Sarin the time off from work. The Hinkins’ family has been very supportive and anxious for the show to air so they can see what Jed and Sarin have been doing the last few weeks. Jed said these last couple of weeks have been the hardest not to say anything, because they have a lot of people calling now and wondering about the show. “We just keep telling everyone to watch the show and see for themselves,” said Jed. The episodes will air each Monday night for the coming eight weeks at 9 p.m. on ABC.
