PRICE-Florence Perri Butkovich, age 89, passed away Aug. 3, 2009 at Castleview Hospital in Price.
Flo was born Nov. 24, 1919 in Kenilworth, Utah to Domenic Perri Sr., and Maria Juiseppa Fazzio.
She married John Anthony Butkovich, March 2, 1942 in Fruita, Colo.; he died on Nov. 25, 1994.
Florence was a member of the Catholic Church and an active member of Notre Dame Catholic Women and the choir. She was a longtime member of Stella D’America Italian Lodge #77 and the Price Ladies of Elks.
For the past seven years while residing at Castle Country Care Center she became known as the “Bowling Queen”. She truly enjoyed the staff, residents, activities and her bowling achieved her more first place games than anyone. She was the longest living resident at the place she called home.
Florence was known for her kindness, generosity, devotion to family and friends, and her excellent cooking. She enjoyed camping, visiting with family and friends, and reminiscing at the Slovenian picnics.
She will be dearly missed by all.
She is survived by her daughter, Frances Hicks, Laguna Niguel, Calif.; sons, John M. (Vicky) Butkovich, Steve A. (Jackie) Butkovich, both of Price; brothers and sisters, Vannie Lami, Price, Tony Perri, Spring Glen, Mike (Ellen) Perri, Rock Springs, Wyo., Emma (Tony) Beacco, Price; sisters-in-law, Ann Sudar, Walsenberg, Colo., Myrtle Shubert, Santa Ana, Calif., Irene Wilcox, Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren, Sheri (Bill) Dettman, La Quinta, Calif., Glyn (Becky) Hicks, San Jacinto, Calif., Susan Hicks, Phoenix, Ariz., Gary (Diana) Hicks, Temecula, Calif., Frank, Michele, Tracy and Johnny Butkovich, all of Price; nine great-grandchildren, Chelsea Hicks, Simon and Zane Hicks, Erika Butkovich, Stephen and Abbie Butkovich, Dusty and Kierra Dennis, Nicholas Butkovich.
Preceded in death by her parents, son, Frank Robert Butkovich; brothers, Pete, Domenic, Angelo, Bill and Ross Perri; and sister, Viola.
Funeral Mass, Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church. Vigil service, Friday evening 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home where friends are welcome daily. The family was at Mitchell’s Friday and Saturday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
