Three big nights of rodeo action concluded on Saturday as the Desertview ProRodeo came to town for the 11th consecutive year.
The finest cowboys and cowgirls competed in bareback, saddlebronc, steer wrestling, team roping, tie down roping, barrels and bull riding. Speciality events included the watermelon crawl, wild cow milking and the Dodge truck horse shoe throwing contest.
Cody Sosebee was the rodeo clown at the event all three nights.
Blake Goode and his speciality act where he rode his Brahma bulls around the ring and jumped the bulls through a ring of fire was a big hit. The hide race in its second year was a popular event. Thursday night was cancer awareness night and Lorna Jensen won the tickets to the National Rodeo Finals in Las Vegas and a nights stay at the South Point Hotel and Casino where the cowboys stay while at the finals. Rodeo results, wild cow milking and hide race will be in the next issue of the Emery County Progress on Aug. 11.
