Fourth Annual Turkey Trot
Several area businesses are sponsoring the 4th annual Turkey Trot 5K and 1 mile runs on Thanksgiving morning Nov. 28. There will also be races for young children. At Huntington Elementary registration begins at 7:45 a.m. and races begin at 8:30 a.m. To pre-register, call 687-5533 or 687-2747. Lots of fun prizes and a turkey dinner to be given away to the largest participating family.

Utah Arts Festival Seeks Composers
The Utah Arts Festival is accepting applications from Utah composers for the 12th annual orchestral Composer Commission. Those interested in applying for the 2003 Commission must submit a one-page biographical sheet, two bound copies of a score (preferably for full symphony orchestra) that represents the composer’s highest artistic accomplishments, and two quality recordings of the work. A Tree for the Festival of Trees
A group of Emery County ladies are decorating a tree for the Festival of the Trees to be held the first week of December which benefits the Primary Childrens Medical Center. The group, under the direction of Sara Grindley, are planning “Sister to Sister” a tree dedicated to Toni Oliverson, an Orangeville cancer survivor. Anyone interested in helping or supporting, please contact Sara at 748-2940.

San Rafael Jr. High Parent/Teacher conferences will be Oct. 29 and 30 from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Parents can pick up their students report card at the office before visiting teachers. There will be school on Oct. 30. There will be no school on Nov. 1

Pheasant Hunters Breakfast and Luncheon
The Lily of the Valley Elmo Camp of the D.U.P. is sponsoring a pheasant hunters breakfast and luncheon on Nov. 2 and Nov. 9 at 55 South 100 East in Elmo. Breakfast begins at 7 a.m. and lunch begins at 10 a.m. Drawing for a quilt and prizes.
U of U Mood Disorders Clinic
The University of Utah Mood Disorders Clinic is seeking participants for one of the largest studies ever to study medications used to treat schizophrenia. Cleveland Elementary Halloween Carnival
Cleveland Elementary PTO will hold its annual Halloween Carnival at the school on Oct. 31 from 6-8:30 p.m. Dinner will be available and lots of games, including a spook alley, candy and prizes. Tickets can be purchased in advance at the school office starting Oct. 28, also at the door Halloween night. VFW Department Service Office
A field service officer from the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Department Service Office, will be in your area to assist you in understanding and applying for rightful VA benefits, preparing and documenting application for compensation, pension, hospitalization and other benefits. The officer will be at Price Workforce Service Center from 9 -10:30 a.m. on Nov. 20.
Deadline for Next ACT Test
College bound high school students who want to take the ACT Assessment have two chances to register before the Dec. 14 test date. The postmark registration deadline in Nov. 8 and the late registration postmark deadline is Nov. 21 To learn more about the ACT Assessment, including registration forms and test locations, contact your high school counselor or go to the ACT website www.act.org which also offers useful tips, sample tests and the opportunity to order inexpensive test prep materials.
Ten Free Trees
Ten free trees, autumn classics, will be given to each person who joins The National Arbor Day Foundation during Oct. The free trees are part of the nonprofit foundation’s Trees for America Campaign.

Last Chance to Choose
A 30 minute presentation titled “Last Chance to Choose” will be broadcast on Channel 26 each Wed. evening at 7 p.m. and Sat. at 10 a.m.until Nov. 2. This presentation will explain some of the reasons why a monument on the San Rafael Swell is being considered at this particular time.

Emery County Board of Commissioners
The Emery County Board of Commissioners will sponsor a monument informational meeting on Oct. 30 at 7 p.m. in the commission chambers. A presentation will be made by Rob Heille and Sally Wisely, BLM, on special management approaches and trends. The guest speakers will entertain questions after their presentation.
