San Rafael Conservation District seeking two board members

The San Rafael Conservation District is seeking applications for two positions on the Board of Supervisors. The board consists of five elected “supervisors” or board members. Two positions are now open and will be filled by interested applicants until the next election conducted by the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food.
The San Rafael Conservation District is identified by Utah State Law (Utah State Code Title 17D-Chapter 03) as a “Limited Purpose Local Government Entity”. The Board of Supervisors is charged with the protection of all natural resources in the San Rafael River drainage. Some of the activities of the district have included: the Colorado River Basin Salinity Control Program that has helped local landowners install pressurized irrigation systems on their property; various water quality projects; sponsorship of high school students to the Utah Envirothon competition, Range Camp and Nature High Camp; no-till conservation tillage introduction into the county; purchase of a seed cleaner for local crop producers; commentating state and federal government conservation issues; grazing land improvement projects, and sedimentation and reclamation efforts.
