Emery Tennis

The Emery High Lady Spartan tennis team nearly pulled off an upset when they narrowly lost at Mt. Pleasant 3-2. Coach Tom Hansen “Our younger players are coming along really well.We have been competitive in every match that we have played. We nearly beat them yesterday.”
Emery’s first doubles team of Melanie Frisbie and Gabby Guymon won their match 6-3 and 6-0 as they took their region record to 2-1. Emery’s second doubles team of Anna Turner and Marqui Moss also won. They won 7-5 and 6-2. They are also 2-1 in region play.
Emery’s first singles, Stevie Feuers, and second singles, Tanya Higbee, were competitive in their matches but they lost. Both players are 0-3 in region action this season. Third singles Shantelle Hansen, nearly won as she lost 3-6, 6-4 and 2-6. Shantelle is 2-1 in region this season.
This week, Emery will play two matches at home. Manti is at Emery on Tuesday and Delta is at Emery on Thursday. Matches are held on the courts between the softball fields and the bus garage south of the high school and begin right after school.
