The annual Relay for Life was held July 12 and 13 at the Emery High Track. The event began with a survivors’ social and a survivors’ lap around the track. The parade of teams was next followed by entertainment and dinner. Many prizes were given away throughout the evening. The speakers for the event were State Senator Mike Dmitrich, oncology nurse Ann King and survivor, Judi Bishop. They pointed out the need to know your own body and take preventative measures to guard against cancer. The relay raised approximately $10,000 for cancer research. The luminary ceremony honored those with cancer or those who have lost their battle with the disease. Participants took to the track off and on all night long as they walked for life. The participants were treated to breakfast cooked by the commissioners.
