Second doubles team of Marqui Moss and Anna Turner barely lost as they won the first game 6-4, lost the second game on a tiebreaker at 5-7 and then lost the final match 3-6. Second single Tonya Higbee and third singles Keisha Holmes each also barely lost. Higbee’s scores were 3-6, 3-6 and Holmes was 4-6, 3-6.
The team traveled to St. George last weekend and played good tennis against some bigger squads. Emery defeated Wasatch 4-1 and then lost to 5-A Northridge 2-3 and to 4-A Stansbury Park 2-3. Emery’s second doubles team of Moss and Turner won their match against each of those three schools as they had a good tournament. Emery also played defending state champion Desert Hills and lost.
Emery will host North Sanpete this Tuesday in Castle Dale and will then travel to Manti this Thursday. The following week, Manti will host all region 12 teams plus all 3-A region 9 teams to the year-end multi regional tournament. This will be held on Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 29 and 30.
