HUNTINGTON – Ruby May Lapp, age 79, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2009. She was born in Huntington, on Dec. 8, 1929, as the third of eleven children born to Joel and Mary Pringle Sherman.
Ruby was raised in Huntington and attended North Emery High. She worked as a mechanical engineer for Tridair Industries for 15 years. She spent most of her life in California. After being there for 50 years, she returned to Huntington in 2002 where she spent the remainder of her life.
She loved to travel with family and friends. Her travels took her to Holland, Italy, Europe, Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada. Ruby also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and spending time with her family. Her favorite food was rootbeer floats and Oreo Cookie shakes (our health foods). She will be remembered as a loving Grandma, Great-Grandma, and Great-Great-Grandma. She was very independent and remained so to the end.
The family would like to extend a special “Thank You” to Community Nursing Services: Jeff, Sarah Lee, Megan, Hollie, and Chaplan Sherlan.
Ruby is survived by her three children, 10 siblings, five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
