HELPER-Stella F. Gigliotti, 96, passed away June 19, 2009 in Salt Lake City.
She was born on Feb. 18, 1913 in Helper, Utah to Frank and Elizabeth Siletta Felice.
At the young age of 16, Stella eloped with Ross Gigliotti and they spent 67 years together until his death on July 13, 1996. They had three children, eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great- grandchild. As a loving and deeply caring grandmother, she helped raise several of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Stella loved being with people, especially young people. She spent countless hours sharing her wisdom with people who came into her grocery store and gas station. She donated a large portion of her property to create one of the first free urban fishing ponds in Utah. It was important to her that children have a place to fish.
Stella will be remembered for her beautiful roses and delicious cooking. “Stella’s Kitchen” is a treasured family cookbook.
She had a deep love for the Bible and became one of Jehovah’s Witness in 1973. She was looking forward to a paradise earth where she could learn to ski and drive.
Her motto was “Make your smile your umbrella on a rainy day.”
She is survived by her children, Eunetta Button, Shirley Martin, and Ross D. Gigliotti; sister, Matilda Davido; brothers, Rudy Felice and Frank Marrelli.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ross; brothers, Ernie Felice and Charles Marrelli; and her grand daughter, Paula Peay Earl.
The family would like to thank Applegate Hospice, Home Instead and her friends and family for their loving care and support.
Funeral services, Saturday, June 27, 2009, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price. Family will be at Mitchell’s Saturday one hour prior to services. Interment, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
