Register Now for the 4-H Education Camps
Any youth currently in ninth-12th grade that would like to participate in the 4-H Summer Education Camps, please register ASAP. The camps are filling up fast and we have spaces for local youth to attend. The archeology camp at Range Creek will be June 15-19 and the Paleontology camp is July 13-17. Learn To Be Self Sufficient

Hunter Education Course
A hunter education course will be held June 30, July 1, 2, and 3 at the Emery County Recreation Center. Class will be from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. each day. You must pre-register by June 26. Sign up early there is a class size limit. Participants will be required to obtain a voucher at a licensed vendor for the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources prior to registering for the class. Fifth Annual Emery County Recreation/Millsite Men’s Association Amatuer Four Man Scramble
June 20 at 9 a.m. Shotgun start. Entry fee: $50 per man; includes greens fee, cart, lunch and two mulligans.
Emery County Recreation Junior Golf Program
Emery County Recreation will be sponsoring a junior golf program for youth ages 12-18. This program will run June 22, 29, July 6 and 13 from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. You will receive a coupon at the time of registration. Register at the Emery County Recreation office located at 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. This program will be conducted at Millsite Golf Course. Emery County Special Needs Fishing Program
June 27, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Giolotti Pond (in Helper).Fishing pole, license for the day and lunch will be provided for participant and parents. Register at Emery County Recreation located at 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. Registration deadline is June 19. For transportation, registration or program information, contact Emery County Recreation at 381-2108. If your child is able to participate in regular sports activities or has A.D.D. they are not eligible to participate in Emery County Special Needs Programs.
Historical Society Trek
Join the Emery County Historical Society on a trek to the Summerville Mining District. (Chimney Rock and ruins from railroad construction on the San Rafael) June 27, meet at the Buckhorn Well below Castle Dale at 9 a.m. Bring pot luck dish, water, sun screen, bug repellant, chairs and cameras. Hot dogs and buns will be furnished by the Society. High clearance vehicles will be required. No meeting in July. Plan on being to our Cowboy Poetry event on August 27. Green River Magic Show
Come join the Green River Community Center for an afternoon of “Magic with Madell” on June 26. This exciting event is free and all children are welcome. The event will be held at the community center from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and is something you won’t want to miss.

Millsite State Park Second annual Tagged Fish Event
Utah’s first-ever tagged trout event will start June 1 and run through July 31. You can make money catching tagged fish at Millsite Reservoir. There will be 20 fish each worth $50, 10 fish worth $100 and two worth $250, for a total of $2,500. All you have to do is get out and fish. No contest fee required. Search and Rescue Marathon Road Closure
The Mohrland Road will be closed June 20 from 5:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. for the Second Annual Search and Rescue triathlon. Contact the Sheriff’s Office for more information or assistance. The boat ramp at Huntington State Park will also be closed on June 20 until around 3 p.m.

Huntington DUPS Quilt Display and Raffle
Huntington Camp of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers will be hosting an exhibit of quilts and other needlework during the July 4 Heritage Days activities. We would like you to participate by displaying old or new quilts. There will be no judging, just display only. We will take very good care of objects and display them well. To donate items for display only, contact Christine Jensen, 749-0595 or Sherron Pulli, 687-9549. The Huntington Camp is also doing a fund raiser to help fix the roof on their heritage building. Cleveland Days Correction
Cleveland Days 10 or 20 mile bike ride and kid’s sidewalk ride will be held at 6 p.m. on July 23. The 2009 Castle Country Vacation and Recreation Guide incorrectly stated that is was a 10 or 20 mile sidewalk ride starting at 5 p.m.
Movie in the Park
Ferron Youth Council will be sponsoring a movie in the park June 19 at Mayor’s Park . The movie will begin at dusk. This will be a great family activity. Bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. Students will be selling cotton candy, snow cones and pop for $1. Details: Andrea 384-2632.
Business Workshop for SBA loans
On June 17 at 8 am in the county building there will be commercial lenders from Zions Bank and Robert Edminster from the CDC for SBA 504 loans. There will be presentations on each kind of SBA loan and then there will be break-out sessions so that the business owners have one-on-one time with a lender to get help with the application. There will also be a continental breakfast served.
Tennis Camp
Emery County Recreation tennis camp June 15-19. Third-sixth grade: 8 – 9:30 a.m. Seventh – ninth grade: 10 a.m. – 12 noon. Emery High School tennis courts. Junior Miss Emery Pageant
All young ladies ages 6 – 9 living in Emery County are invited to participate in The Little Miss Emery Pageant being held on Aug. 6, at 6 p.m. in the Fair tent. Registration fee is $40. She will ride in parades with Miss Emery and attend the Miss Utah tea. She will win a $400 packet which includes a dress, Miss Utah T-shirt and other prizes.
