Millsite Ladies Golf League Opening Social
The opening social for the Millsite Ladies Golf league will be held April 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Millsite Clubhouse. A light dinner will be served. All new ideas will be welcomed regarding schedule and etc. Encourage all the ladies you know to come and join, while learning the game of golf. Membership is $25 and will include a T-shirt with the association name printed on the front. Sizes and team colors, as well as dues will be discussed at the social. Emery County Historical Society Members

Brigham Young University Easter Conference
The BYU Easter Conference will be held April 11 from 9 a.m.-noon. The keynote speaker is Bonnie D. Parkin, former general Relief Society president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The conference will also feature two other speakers and instrumental and vocal presentations. The Easter conference is free to the public.
Health Camp
High School students interested in a future health care career are welcome to participate in the Health Career Exploration Camp at Southern Utah University. The camp will take place June 8-10 and is open to all 9th-12th grade high school students. The camp is designed to teach students about health care careers in a hands-on learning environment with health care professionals. Participants will participate in eight different workshops, as well as participate in the SUU-Rocky Mountain Power Challenge Course to learn leadership skills. Workshops are hands-on and teach students about careers such as: veterinary, dentistry, doctor, nurse, pharmacist, medical technologist and many more. Group activities, including keynote speakers and a dance are also included. Cost for the camp is $70, which includes housing during the camp at The Eccles Living Learning Center, meals, workshop supplies and a camp t-shirt. Scholarships are available to waive the cost of camp for individuals who qualify based on household income. Transportation to and from Southern Utah University is up to the individual attendee. Ferron Easter Egg Hunt
Ferron City Easter egg hunt will be held April 8 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Toddlers age 3 and under-9 a.m. at the soccer field; preschool ages-9:30 a.m. at the soccer field; kindergarten-9:30 a.m. at the kindergarten playground; first graders-10:30 a.m. at the main playground; second graders-11 a.m. at the main playground; third graders- 1 p.m. at the main playground; and fourth graders-1:30 p.m. at the main playground. Main Street Market is providing bags for the children to carry their eggs in. All children will get to hunt for eggs, then meet in the gym for a special prize. Sponsored by the Ferron Youth Council.
Desert Edge Christian Chapel Easter Sunrise Service
Desert Edge Christian Chapel will hold Easter Sunrise service April 12 at 7:30 a.m. at the chapel located at 500 South Main Street in Huntington. A breakfast buffet will be served following the service. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Cleveland Easter Egg Hunt
The Cleveland/Elmo youth town councils will sponsor this years Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 4 at noon. All preschool and elementary age children are invited to meet in front of the Cleveland Town Hall. So bring your baskets and don’t miss the fun in Cleveland. Adult Ballroom Dance Classes
Adult ballroom dance classes will begin March 26 and run for eight weeks. Classes will be from 6-8 p.m. at the Emery County Recreation Center, 75 South 400 East, Castle Dale. Jaley Stilson is the instructor. The cost is $40 for a single, $65 for a couple, and if you want only one or two classes, the cost will be $7 per person per class. Ages 14 and up are welcome. Must register at the Recreation Center before March 23.
Learn To Be Self Sufficient
A class which teaches self sufficiency and using home food storage is being taught at the Courthouse in Castle Dale on April 17 at noon. Everyone is welcome to attend and bring a pot luck dish.
March 26, Preparedness Awareness Fair
The annual preparedness awareness fair is to be held at the events center at the Carbon County fairgrounds in Price. It is on March 26 from 4-7 p.m. Everyone welcome to come and get free information on how to better prepare for an emergency or disaster.
American Legion Spring Convention
The American Legion Spring Convention will be held March 28 at the Huntignton Senior Center at 11 a.m. National Auxiliary President will be the special guest speaker. Fourth Annual Baseball Camp March 27-28
There will be a two day baseball camp at the Huntington Complex from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 27 and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on March 28. The cost for the camp is $65 or if you can only attend one day the cost is $35. If you would like your child to have some one on one time with an instructor, (which will start right after the camp) the cost is $25 for a half hour. Emery County Relay For Life
It is now time to sign up your team for this years Emery County Relay for Life Cancer walk. It will take place on June 12-13 at the Emery High School. The next meeting will be held on March 26. Youth Dance in Ferron
A youth dance will be held in Ferron at the fairgrounds building on March 21 from 7-10 p.m. It is for youth ages 12-18 and a student ID is required. Admission is $2 and there will be free pop. DJ is Willie Frisbie.
Raising Money for Guyana
Benjamin and Sharlene Heward have created “Humanitarian Guyana” to help the many thousands in need in Guyana South America. They need to raise an additional $10,000 for this Humanitarian Rescue Trip; scheduled for June 2009. Charitable donations represent the primary source of funding for the organization. Utah Trail Machine Association Annual Clean-up Day At Five Mile Pass
This years event, dubbed “High Five” will be held May 23. In addition to clean-up work we will be promoting safety and family-oriented recreational OHV activities. The trail rides at the end of the day will be educational as well as fun. They are welcoming 70+ OHV clubs and associations in Utah to join us and we’re presenting this event in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Managment and the Utah Department of Natural Resources.

CASA Volunteers Needed
Each year hundreds of children in Emery and Carbon counties become wards of the juvenile court system due to child abuse, neglect or abandonment. The child welfare system can only devote so much time and attention to each individual case and, consequently, to each individual child. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Volunteers are ordinary men and women who find it in their hearts and their schedules to help these abused and neglected children.
