The Emery County Sheriff’s Office has made an arrest in the armed robbery of the Castle Dale Maverik on Feb. 25 at 12:54 a.m.
Emery County Sheriff LaMar Guymon said, “On Friday morning, Det. Sgt. Robert Blackburn, Sgt. Tom Harrison and members of the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team acting on a warrant from the County Attorney’s Office arrested Donald Eugene Stevens of Ferron. The team went to his residence in Ferron and arrested the suspect Stevens without incident. He was transported to the Emery County Sheriff’s Office and was charged with aggravated robbery, tampering with evidence, and criminal mischief; charges all stemming from the armed robbery and discharge of a firearm in the commission of that robbery of the Maverik convenience store on Feb. 25. Det. Blackburn has been waiting for evidence to return from the state crime lab and based upon that evidence a warrant was issued and Stevens taken into custody.
“I would like to commend Det. Blackburn and the other detectives that assisted him as well as our entire office including the secretaries, everyone worked well together and assisting each other in their fields of expertise. Det. Blackburn spent the necessary hours in collecting and coordinating all the evidence generated together to solve the crime and to make the arrest. He also worked to educate the store owners and employees involved to prevent these types of incidents from happening in the future,” said Sheriff Guymon.
