Chili Dinner and Trunk or Treat
A free chili dinner and trunk or treat will be held at Desert Edge Christian Chapel Oct. 31. The dinner is from 5-6 p.m. and the trunk or treat will be from 6-7 p.m. Everyone is welcome.
Pumpkin Chuckin’ Festival
How far can you launch a pumpkin? Find out on Nov. 7 at 10 a.m. Build a pumpkin launcher as a group or individual to see who can chuck their pumpkin the farthest. Each launcher will have three attempts to chuck an 8-10 pound pumpkin. Prizes will be awarded to the winning team or participant. Devices must be portable. All participants must pre-register by Nov. 2. There will also be a pumpkin carving contest and other fun games, food and information. Castle Dale City Annual Pumpkin Festival

Run Against Hunger

The Cleveland Town Fall Burn Season
The burn window in Cleveland is from Oct. 3-Nov. 1. Permits are available at the Town Office, 100 West Main, Cleveland. Everyone must obtain a permit prior to burning. There are no fees for a burn permit. Allowable material: dry weeds, garden waste, tree limbs (under six inches in diameter) tree and shrub trimmings, scrap lumber (untreated). 2009 Ferron Scarecrow Contest
Participants must pre-register at City Hall. Display locations will be assigned at time of registration. The contest is open to individuals, businesses, organizations, and clubs. There is no fee to enter. Hand-deliver your entry form to the Ferron City Hall or use the night drop. Entries must be received by Oct.14. Scarecrows may go up anytime between Oct. 1-15. The scarecrow contest is family friendly. Scarecrows should be whimsical, humorous, or loveable and not frightening. Judging is Nov. 9-10. Winners will be announced Nov. 11. Emery County Recreation Adult Men’s Basketball League

Huntington City Fall Open Burn

Huntington City Fall Clean-up
Through Oct. 15. October 15 will be the last limb pick up until the spring clean-up. Dumpsters will be located behind the hill north of the ball complex. Do not place anything on the ground. The Emery County Landfill is requesting that these items not be placed in the dumpsters that are used for the spring and fall clean-ups; tires, batteries, oil, no liquid of any type such as paint, terpentine, etc., pesticides, cement, and refrigerators. A person can be fined up $12,000 from the State of Utah for mixing these appliances in with regular refuse because of the freon.
Yard Sale/Bake Sale at Castle Dale Senior Center
Oct. 24 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Center – 150 East 100 North in Castle Dale will be the yard sale/bake sale fund raiser for the Emery County Senior Centers. Begay’s Navajo tacos will be available for purchase this day.

Boy needs help
Six year old Xander Archuleta is in need of a bone marrow transplant. Treatmen will take place at Primary Children’s Medical Center. A donation account has been set up at Zion’s Bank .the name of Xander Archuleta. You can donate at any Zion’s Bank Branch by simply telling them Xander’s name.
