CLEARFIELD/ELMO-William Roland Phillips, age 70, passed away Oct. 16, 2009 at McKay Dee Hospital in Ogden. He was born April 3, 1939 in Ogden, Utah to Lottie Anne Gomm and Earl S. Jackson.
Bill attended grade and high school at Morgan, Utah. He then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps, followed by 33 years of civil service work at Hill Air Force Base.
He was an avid golfer and bowler excelling in each. Bill’s best attribute was his unconditional love for friends and family, and his willingness to help anyone in need at any cost.
He is survived by his ex-wife Raedean Phillips; daughters Cindy Jakes, Tonya (Mike) Tisdale; son Tracey Martin; sisters Janet Kaye Robinson, Charlotte A. Phillips, Marvilynn (Dale) Long; brothers Douglas (Rose) Jackson, George (Annette) Beeton, Rex M. Phillips; 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; mother-in-law Caroline Clark; sister-in-law Donna Simpson; brother-in-law Artist L. Clark Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Marvin Phillips; both sets of grandparents; beloved wife and companion Debra Joann Clark Phillips; daughter Chrisy Thomasen; grandson William Thomasen; brothers Ronald Jackson and Larry Phillips.
Special thanks to his daughter Tonya and sister-in-law Donna Mae who cared for Bill to the end, special friends Bill, Jo and Cassie Young, fifth floor doctors, nurses and hospice staff of McKay Dee Hospital, Bill’s employers and friends at Fitzgerald & Sparetime Bowling of Ogden. Graveside service Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, 2 p.m., Cleveland City Cemetery. Family will gather at Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street in Price on Saturday from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
