EAST CARBON-Doris Starzel Van Gerven, age 51, passed away July 13, 2009 in Price after a long and courageous battle.
She was born on Aug. 27, 1957 in Price, Utah to Joe and Joyce Green Starzel.
Doris was a beautiful mother, sister and friend who has returned home to be with our precious Lord. She was a very generous, kind and loving person who will be greatly missed by everyone. Her long fought battle is finally over, and now she’s at peace.
“We love you Doris, and you’ll always be in our thoughts and prayers.”
She is survived by her son, Chad Starzel; brother and sisters, Louie (Michelle) Starzel, Annette (Jacques) Van Liere, Betty Jo Franco; all of East Carbon. She is survived by her extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces and great nephew.
Doris is preceded in death by her son, Quincy Starzel; husband, Michael Van Gerven; parents, Joe and Joyce Starzel; and sisters, Mary Ann Valdez and Evelyn Perez.
Funeral Mass, Friday, July 24, 2009, 10 a.m., Good Shepherd Catholic Church, East Carbon. Vigil service, Thursday evening 7 p.m., at the church in East Carbon. Family will be at the church Thursday and Friday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily.
