EAST CARBON-Our loving father, grandfather, friend, and fishing buddy, Donald Andrew Leonard, age 85, passed away July 25, 2009 in Price.
He was born Oct. 31, 1923 in Price, Utah to Darrell E. and Nilla Milano Leonard.
Don married the love of his life, Rachelle Farlaino, Oct. 11, 1952 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church; she died Dec. 17, 2000.
Don was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. He was a life long resident of Carbon County where he was an owner and operator of The Miner’s Trading Post since May 1, 1951. He honorably served his country in the US Navy. After returning from the service he attended Carbon College where he played on the championship football team in 1947, and later went on to help coach at Carbon College.
He enjoyed working alongside his family, but his true passion was fishing, fishing and more fishing.
He is survived by four sons, Darrell (Wendy) Leonard, East Carbon, Jim (Dawn) Leonard, Price; Donnie (Cathy) Leonard, East Carbon; Sam (Susan) Leonard, Sunnyside; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was reunited with his beloved wife, Rachelle; parents; grandson, Casey Leonard; sisters, Juanita Tangaro and Dorotha Littlejohn; and special fishing buddies, Arco and Albert.
Funeral Mass, Wednesday, July 29, 2009, 10 a.m., Good Shepherd Catholic Church in East Carbon. Vigil service, Tuesday evening 7 p.m. Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Family will be at the church Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Committal service, Price City Cemetery.
