The Desertview ProRodeo number 11 is slated to come to town on July 30, 31, and Aug. 1 at the rodeo arena in Castle Dale. For 10 straight years the Desertview Pro Rodeo has grown larger and now reaches its special 11th Anniversary edition. The rodeo committee knows the success of this rodeo is due to the greatest rodeo fans and sponsors in the country. The three day event will be jam packed with cowboys and cowgirls from all over the country competing for big money purses. For the third year the Desertview Pro Rodeo is a sanctioned Dodge Rodeo.
National Rodeo Finals riders will make an appearance at the Desertview ProRodeo. In bareback, Jessy Davis and Kaycee Feild will try their luck in the Castle Dale arena. In saddle bronc, NRF Levi Berry will be here. In bull riding, world champion Cody Hancock will climb on a bull at the rodeo. In calf roping and steer wrestling Jake Hannum and Jeff Crozier will come to town. In team roping three time world all-around competitor Lewis Feild and partner Shadrach Feild will compete. Local cowboys will include Wacey Allred from Cleveland on bulls and Rick Housekeeper from Price on bulls. In barrels, cowgirls Shari Allen from Ferron and AnnDee Adams from Castle Dale along with Shawnalee Hinkins will round out the Emery County barrel racers. Local Huntington calf ropers, Brock and Justin Truman will compete on Saturday night. Brock Winn from Ferron will compete in the saddle bronc ride.
Introduced at the Desertview ProRodeo last year was the hide race and it will continue at this year’s event. The Desertview Pro Rodeo is looking for a few brave men and women to try their luck at the hide race. Riders will enter the ring and their partner will jump on the hide and hang on for the ride of their lives around the barrel and back out of the arena for a timed score. Event organizers hope to have at least 15 teams participate in this event so call now to reserve your spot. The entry fee is $50 per team for all three nights. Winning team receives $250 per night. Overall winners receive belt buckles. This event is each night at the Desertview Pro Rodeo which begins at 7:30 p.m. Call Emery Recreation Department at 435-381-2108 to register. Friday night is Castle Valley Ranch night at the rodeo.
Friday night will be the horseshoe throwing event to win a Dodge truck. Three lucky people will have the chance to win a new Dodge. Each night of the rodeo will feature the wild cow milking event. Local cowboys compete for prize money and all around belt buckles for the overall champions. This is Emery County’s truly extreme, unique event. Don’t miss this event because you will be entertained to the max with this wild action.
The Desertview ProRodeo has attracted some local cowboys as well as cowboys from all over the country.
The rodeo begins at 7:30 p.m. each evening under the Emery County blue skies.
The Desertview ProRodeo committee wonders if you are “Tough Enough to Wear Pink.” The rodeo committee wants every rodeo fan through the gate on Thursday night to show their support by wearing a pink shirt, hat, ribbon or just anything will do.
To get involved in the “In the Pink” scavenger hunt contact the Emery County Recreation. You will receive a list of businesses to visit to spot the pink ribbon at each business. Fill out the entry form and be entered to win two tickets to the 2009 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas along with a nights lodging at the South Point Hotel and Casino.
“Tough Enough to Wear Pink” has been raising big bucks for cancer across the nation. Some of the largest rodeos in the nation have climbed on board. Many of them have raised $30,000 and more for a single event.
Wrangler is a partner in the cause and donates all of the money from the sale of pink shirts to cancer awareness.
Desertview Credit Union said, “We are proud to sponsor the Desertview ProRodeo for the residents of Castle Valley. This is a world class rodeo event and with the continuation of the “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” event for cancer we hope to make this rodeo even more community friendly. We hope everyone comes out to support the rodeo and this event which gives everyone a chance to make a donation for cancer and all you have to do is wear pink and the rodeo organizers will do the rest. Hope to see you at the rodeo.”
Sankey Rodeo/New West Rodeo production will provide the rodeo stock for the event. Sankey is known far and wide for his rodeo animals who know their job and perform it well. His stock is used every year at the National Rodeo Finals held each year in Las Vegas.
Come and spend a night watching the best rodeo action around. This rodeo has something for everyone and even if you don’t think you’re a rodeo fan, you will be after a night spent at the Desertview ProRodeo.
Also this year is a combo ticket special, good for all three nights of rodeo action at a reduced price. This special ticket deal is only available at Desertview Federal Credit Union branches in Huntington and Ferron.
Advance tickets are available at BKs Stop-n-Shop, Headquarters, Emery County Treasurers Office, Emery County Recreation, Desertview Credit Union in Huntington and Ferron, Gilly’s, Food Ranch, Green River City Hall and Intermountain Farmers in Price.
Rodeo concessions will be offered each night for the hungry cowboy and cowgirl. The Desertview ProRodeo kicks off two weeks of fun and the Emery County Fair begins Aug. 5 with a free dinner and ice cream social. Events continue Aug. 4-8, culminating with the huge, free Emerson Drive concert on Aug. 8 at 7 p.m.
