FERRON, UTAH-Dick Velt Hancock, 74, passed away Saturday, Aug. 14, 2010 after a brave and strong battle with cancer at his home in Ferron with many of his loving family by his side.
He was born in Springville, Utah to Leo Velt and Fay Paulfurman Hancock on Oct. 5, 1935.
Dick has worked most of his life in construction as an operator/engineer. He served his country faithfully in the 82nd Airborne Division in the US Army. He was the owner and operator of Tony’s Cafe and the Castle Country Motel in Ferron. Dick also enjoyed boating and being with his family.
Dick is survived by his children: Tony (Debbie) Hancock of Ferron, Wade (Lori) Hancock of Clawson, Bobby (Bonnie) Hancock of Colorado, Monty Hancock of Ferron, and Deeann (Sam) Bodily of Ferron. Dick is also survived by his former wife Deanna Rae Olsen Hancock of Ferron, and his sister Beverly Whitting of Cedar City along with 11 grandchildren and soon to be 12 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Friday Aug. 20, 2010 at the Blue Hills Ward at 35 West 200 North in Ferron from 2-3:45 pm. A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. in the Ferron City Cemetery under the trusted care of the Heritage Funeral Home.
