The annual Heritage Days Rodeo was held on July 5 and 6. Cowboys and cowgirls from around the state competed in the traditional rodeo events. There were bull riders, bareback riders, ropers and barrel racers. Many children lined up to chase the chickens around the arena as well as steer chasers who were finally successful in removing ten dollars from the horn and tail of the steer as he ran from the chasers. The large crowds were well rewarded with the rodeo action Heritage Days Rodeo is known for around the region. The rodeo royalty presented the flags at the beginning of the rodeo each night as well as helping with the events. Young rodeo participants engaged in mutton bustin before the main event each night.
