The Miss Emery Scholarship Pageant will be July 20 at 8 p.m. in the Emery High School Auditorium. There are eight young women who will perform a variety of talents. Miss Utah and the current Miss Emery, Barbara Burke, will also be performing.
Candace Ungerman |
Candace is the daughter of Gordon and Sabrina Ungerman of Huntington. She is a student at Emery High School, where she will be a senior this fall. She is a member of the National Honor Society. Candace has been involved with the volleyball, basketball and track teams at Emery High. She enjoys playing the piano. Her goals for the future are to attend college and become an accountant.
Meagan Mary Rogers |
Meagan is the daughter of Jack and Lorie Rogers of Castle Dale. She enjoys being with her five sisters and her friends, swimming, playing the piano, singing, reading, and doing puzzles. She is currently a life guard at the Castle Dale swimming pool. She also teaches piano and serves as Mayor-elect on the Castle Dale Youth City Council. Meagan plans to attend college where she will major in International Business, which will allow her to learn languages and travel. She also plans to get married in the LDS Temple and raise a family.
Melinda Jo Nelson |
Melinda is the daughter of Michael and Kelly Nelson of Castle Dale. She is a senior at Emery High. She is a member of National Honor Society, Sterling Scholar of Foreign Language, a member of Castle Dale City Youth Council, president of the French Club and Liaison for United Way. She enjoys singing, drawing, acting, her friends, and taking care of her pets. She has participated in school and community plays. She has recently earned the Governors Silver Bowl for service, and the United Way 2001 Governors Youth Volunteers Award. Melinda will be attending the College of Eastern Utah in the fall.
JaNell Jones |
JaNell is a junior at Southern Utah University where she majors in psychology and biology. JaNell enjoys playing the piano, reading, cross-stitching, crocheting and arranging flowers. JaNell was the 2001 Salutatorian at Emery High School. Her activities included cheerleading, National Honor Society, mathematics teams and Science Sterling Scholar. JaNell was Senior Class president, Ferron Youth City Council Public Safety Counselor and Student Counselor Executive Committee member. She received the Presidential Student Service Award for completing over 100 hours of community service. JaNell is the daughter of Carl and Cindy Jones of Ferron.
Erin Lynne Jeppson |
Erin is the 18 year-old daughter of Steve and Shelly Jeppson of Orangeville. She is the youngest of two children. Her brother Jeremy is now on a mission in Santiago, Chile. Erin loves to write, winning many awards for her writing. She loves to scrapbook, cook, tole paint, dance and read. Erin plays the piano and often composes her own music. In high school, Erin was active in both drama and FCCLA, often representing Emery High in regional and state competitions. Erin has also been a math tutor. Erin likes the outdoors and enjoys gardening, fishing and camping. She has received her Young Womanhood Recognition. She plans to attend college this fall.
Jennifer Spring Jeffs |
Jennifer is the 19-year-old-daughter of Jarold and GayLee Jeffs of Castle Dale. She is a 2001 graduate of Emery High School. She has been attending the College of Eastern Utah for the past year, and plans to continue her education. She has been the leader for the Emery County Youth Safety Council, the Chief Judge for the Emery County Youth Court, and Co-Mayor for Castle Dale Youth City Council. Jennifer’s talents and hobbies include hunting, fishing, camping, four-wheeling, music and cosmetology, Jennifer is also active in church activities.
Kaylee Edgehouse |
Kaylee is the 17-year-old-daughter of Joe and Kim Edgehouse of Castle Dale. She will be attending college in the fall and plans to major in business and minor in theater and music. She has been a member of Emery High drill team for three years, a member of the Future Business Leaders of America, a member of the drama team, Peer Helpers and the FFA. Her hobbies include singing, dancing, community and high school plays, in which she has had many roles, camping with her family and hanging out with friends. Kaylee enjoys having fun all the time.
Kelsie Virginia Anderson |
Kelsie is the 17-year-old-daughter of Karl and Karen Anderson of Orangeville. She enjoys volleyball, track, theater, piano, singing, playing with her friends, swimming and the trampoline. She is in student council and Honor Society and has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout high school. Kelsie is currently Miss Orangeville. This summer Kelsie attended Girl’s State, the Governors Honors Academy, and will be traveling to London. She would like to go to college, become a pharmacist, and marry Prince Charming in an LDS Temple. Kelsie appreciates her family and friends for helping her in all she does.
