At Thanksgiving, we often pause to count our blessings. While we’re at it, let’s not forget to thank our favorite teachers. “I can’t think of any better way to do so than to nominate them for an Arch Coal Teacher Achievement Award,” said Wess Sorensen, general manager of Skyline Mine. “There are five awards available, and in addition to some well-deserved recognition, each recipient gets $3,500.
“It’s good to be thankful for our teachers, but even better to reward them and let many others know the quality of their efforts, too,” Sorensen added.
Classroom teachers in Carbon, Emery, Sanpete and Sevier counties are eligible for the awards program. The counties surround the Dugout Canyon, Skyline and Sufco mines operated by Canyon Fuel Company, a subsidiary of major U.S. coal producer Arch Coal, Inc. Nomination forms are available in area schools, partner locations and on the Internet at www.archteacherawards.com.
Arch Coal is Utah’s largest coal producer and a large, state employer, with a workforce of approximately 800. Through all its operations, Arch Coal is one of the nation’s largest coal producers. The company is listed on the New York Stock Exchange and maintains its corporate headquarters in St. Louis, Mo.
