ELMO- Our loving mother, grandmother, wife, aunt, daughter, and friend, Julie Ann Nelson Ehler lost her courageous 18 year battle with breast cancer on April 18, 2010 at her home in Elmo while surrounded by her loving family and friends.
In Price, Utah on June 18, 1953 a beautiful miracle occurred when she was born to Duane (Pinky) and Lola Erickson Nelson of Wellington, Utah.
On August 5, 1978 she married Douglas Elvin Ehler on a beautiful day in Price Recreation Area.
She grew up enjoying school, camping, and spending time with friends and family. She graduated from Carbon High School in 1971. After school she worked for Davis Crofts Motors in Price where she met her husband when he bought a truck. She went on to raise a wonderful family of three children while continuing to work at Davis Crofts and Mountain View Motors as the payroll clerk and account manager. After retirement she became an active member in the Daughters of Utah Pioneers where she enjoyed researching her heritage. She organized many successful events including raising the money for the new archway in the Elmo Cemetery which is to be her final resting place. She was a joy to everyone who knew her and always had a big smile on her face. She loved all babies and children, visiting the ocean, homemade quilts, music, singing, camping, swimming, and traipsing across the highways, mountains, and deserts on their Harley Davidson and Four-wheeler with Doug and their friends and family. Julie was very organized and we all relied on her to organize the family dinners, birthday parties, and reunions. Family was so important to Julie and she made sure we all got together often. She made sure that her special childhood girl friends always got together once a year. She took especially good care of her children, parents and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Julie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints.
Survived by her loving husband, Doug Ehler; mother, Lola Nelson; children, Jared Buck Ehler; Will (Amber) Ehler; Cara (Bud) Jenkins; grandchildren, Ashlyn, Derrick, and Isabell Ehler; mother-in-law, Carolyn Ehler; brother, Chris (Laurie) Nelson; nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her father, Duane (Pinky) Nelson; father in law, Elvin Ehler; and Pebbles the family dog of 13 years.
Funeral service, Thursday, April 22, 2010, 11 a.m. Elmo LDS Ward. Family will be at Mitchell Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church Thursday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to service. Interment, Elmo Cemetery.
