ROCK SPRINGS/EAST CARBON-Our loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, friend and father, Casey Spiridona Marakis, age 24, passed away April 15, 2010. He was born on Dec. 8, 1985 in Price, Utah to Angelo J.S. Marakis and Robyn Marie Hyita. Casey was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church. He was a graduate of Rock Springs High School Class of 2004 where he made many dear friends.
Casey was naturally talented and could accomplish anything that he set his mind to. His charming personality, big blue eyes and beautiful smile could melt the hearts of anyone. He excelled in baseball, BMX, arm wrestling, 4-wheeling, hunting and so many other things he loved as a young man. His proudest moment was the recent births of his twin girls.
Casey loved the outdoors and always looked forward to his annual hunting trip with his dad, brother and hunting buddies. He literally lived on the mountain and he never returned home empty handed. He often said, that this was a gift he couldn’t control. Casey was a hard worker and everyone knew that he could work alongside the best. He will be dearly missed by his family, especially his brother and best buddy, Josh.
Survived by his dad, Angelo; mom, Robyn; brother, Joshua; daughters, Brylee and Payson; and Kiera the mother of his baby girls; grandparents, Angelo and JayLene Marakis, Bob and Pat Johnson; aunts and uncles, Tom and Lisa Gazell, Bart and Peggy Hyita, Kathy Parker; numerous great aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandpa, Bob Hyita; great-grandparents, Jay and Mary Fowler, Sam and Harriet Marakis; Raino and Ruby Hyita, Della Eden, and Albert Kizerian; and uncle Jay.
Funeral service, Wednesday, April 21, 2010, 11 a.m., Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, (61 South 200 East) in Price, Utah. Trisagion prayer service, Tuesday evening 7 p.m., Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price where friends are welcome Tuesday and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment, Valley View Cemetery, Sunnyside, Utah. A celebration of Casey’s life will be held in Rock Springs, Wyo. on Friday, April 23, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Sweetwater County Events Complex.
