Easter weekend fatality and other incidents

By By

Emery County Sheriff LaMar Guymon reported a large number of people visiting the San Rafael Swell during Easter weekend. “We had one fall in the Buckhorn Draw area that required the use of search and rescue. There was an ATV accident in the Mounds area on April 5 which took the life of 11 year old Carbon County boy, Zac Westbrook. The ATV rolled over on the boy crushing him. He was with his cousin at the time and the other boy ran back to camp for help. They were both wearing their helmets at the time of the accident. Family members started CPR and he was transported to a location where the family met the ambulance. He was taken to Castleview Hospital where he later died.
“There were four other traffic accidents over the weekend. There were several DUI arrests during the weekend as well,” said Sheriff Guymon.
