Delena Fish has just recently retired from the Department of Workforce Services. She was the manager for the Castle Dale office. Fish has been very active in community service throughout her years. Fish is a well respected member of the community. She serves on the Emery County Economic Development council, Interagency Community Council, BEAR Board, Local Interagency Council, Angle Tree Committee, Chair for the State of Utah Rehabilitation Board, Castle Country Economic Summit Committee, and other positions within her county.
Delena’s good friend Dorothy Carter said, “There is a saying that has been attached to certain people of our area and it is “if I call she hauls,” and that would be Delena. Never have I asked for help or assistance in anything that she hasn’t been willing to jump in and give me a hand. Several years ago I was asked for a name of an individual that I felt would have the leadership and compassion to be on the State Vocational Rehabilitation Advisory Board, and I submitted Delena’s name for consideration. She is well known at the state level by many and was immediately selected as the right choice. She has brought the concerns and needs of our rural area to those who can fund our projects and I credit her with a lot that we are able to accomplish. She was the chairperson and has traveled far and wide to make sure that Utah and especially rural Utah has their fair share so services are available to individuals with disabilities. I can not sing her praise enough.”
Fish has been active in helping with the Emery County Fair and for severals years helped with the annual lamb fry. She is active in her community of Elmo where she serves as the city recorder/treasurer. She helped secure a new fire station for Elmo and improvements to the town park.
Many friends and family gathered to wish Delena well at her retirement.
