SPRING GLEN-Our beloved aunt, great-aunt, and friend, Martha Ann Mikulas Pavich, passed away on Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010 at the Beehive Homes in Price just days prior to her 90th birthday.
She was born April 10, 1920 in Canon City, Colo. to John and Mary Sucich Mikulas. Martha was the third of 11 siblings who preceded her in death, brothers, John and Pete, sisters, Katie, Theresa, Celia, Mary, Susie, Rose, Francis and Annie.
Martha married the love of her life, Nick Pavich on March 12, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah; he preceded Martha in death on March 14, 1997. They spent their life on their farm in Spring Glen where they enjoyed raising animals, vegetables, fruit, and above all each others companionship.
Martha was a member of the Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading the daily newspaper, keeping a daily journal, listening to polka music, watching her favorite T.V. programs, Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie and Gun Smoke. She loved talking about the “Good Ole Days” and fondly remembered her “Rosie the Riveter” days of working at Lockheed Aircraft during World War II. Martha was known at the Beehive Homes, as the lady with the many colored beads of necklaces.
She is survived by nieces and nephews, Betty and Paul Wheeler, her caregivers and constant companions who all provided aunt Martha with love, care and support; Katherine Winters, Joanne Penovich Hinkins, Helen Matekovic, George Drazich, John Castagna and Daniel Tortorelli.
Betty and Paul wish to thank the wonderful and compassionate staff at Beehive Homes, Carbon County Ambulance, Price City Fire Dept. and E.M.T.s, Dr. Engar, Dr. Cox, Dr. Monahan, and Martha King for her offerings of the Holy Communion.
