EMERY-Sharon LaVee Jensen passed away peacefully on Jan. 11, 2010, at age 68 surrounded by her loving family.
Sharon was born in Emery, Utah, on June 4, 1941 to Ruby (Christensen) and Lorin Minchey. On Feb. 14, 1959, Sharon married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Delbert Jensen. They spent the next 50 years side by side. In 2009, they celebrated their golden wedding anniversary with family and the friends they had made along the way.
Sharon’s greatest joy in life was her family. She loved to gather everyone back at home for a holiday. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter were always big events, full of activities for her grandchildren and amazing food. Sharon loved to garden. She would spend countless hours growing and then canning her famous vegetables.
Sharon lived life to the fullest and never wasted a moment. She was always busy camping, fishing, quilting, knitting and capturing family memories in her scrapbooks. Sharon devoted her life to helping others and always took a little time out to let someone know she thought they were special.
Sharon worked as the secretary at Ferron Elementary for 25 years. She loved her work and always considered the faculty and students her extended family.
Sharon is survived by her devoted husband, Delbert; children: Darin (Lisa) Jensen, Jodi (Steve) Anthony, Blake (Tina) Jensen, and Jana (Brendan) Jones; 10 grandchildren; and a brother, Eldon Minchey. She is preceded in death by her parents and younger brother Wesley Minchey.
The Jensen family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at the Huntsman Cancer Institute for the loving way they took care of Sharon and Delbert. They were treated like family during this difficult time. We would also like to encourage everyone who is able to consider donating blood in Sharon’s honor.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 16, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Emery LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service. A viewing was held at the same location, Friday, Jan. 15, from 6-8 p.m. Interment was in the Emery City Cemetery. Friends and family may sign the guestbook and share memories of Sharon at www.fausettmortuary.com.
