Editor:
I recently heard a rumor that several of the RS 2477 roads in the county (the one that immediately comes to mind is the road to Copper Globe) are being closed to ATV traffic because no one has come forward who can document that they personally used them 75 years ago… come on 75 years ago? Who the heck are the environmentalists trying to fool, 75 years was probably picked because they know darn well that anyone who has personal knowledge of using those roads 75 years ago is, most likely, dead.
With this I think I’m about at the end of my string…we are living in a nation where our elected officials, the President and the Congress inclusive, are shredding the Constitution, violating the law, and openly bribing each other for votes. Where irrational political correctness is endangering every American by refusing to recognize radical Islam is the enemy and as a result all Muslims need to be viewed with suspicion and deserve extra screenings at airport not old ladies with walkers nor little girls dolls nor non-Muslims wielding nail clippers. We are a nation where we have been forced, by idiotic energy policies, into virtual servitude to people who hate us, have been driven to the edge of economic collapse, and which have caused the death, at least indirectly, of thousands of American citizens and service men and women because of irrational environmentalism that has made it impossible for us to rationally and conscientiously exploit our own natural resources for our national energy independence.
Finally we are a nation where the will and well being of the majority of the American people are ignored by a government that has become more and more divorced from the goals and ideals of the founding fathers and the Constitution.
I think it’s time that the American people begin to show their righteous and well founded outrage. I for one intend to show mine by writing each of my representatives and telling them, in no uncertain terms, that if they don’t immediately draft, submit, loudly and very publicly support, and get passed legislation to (1) require strict compliance, not re-interpreted compliance, to the Constitution especially with respect to the enumerated powers of the federal government found in Article 1 Section 8, (2) put an end to “legalized” bribery and “earmarks”, that the contents of bills be strictly limited only to the primary stated purpose of the bill, and that the language of the bill be such that it can be understood, without explanation, by the average high school student, (3) require that profiling, during this time of war, of Muslims be immediately instituted as our national prime screening tool, and lastly (4) that energy independence be immediately made the primary consideration in all decisions regarding land use and that there be an immediate reversal of the idiotic, anti-energy independence policies of the past 60 years or I will, no matter who it is, no matter what their platform, nor what party they represent, vote for whomever is running against them in November or whenever they next run for office. I also intend to contact everyone I know and ask them to join me in writing similar letters/emails to their representatives. The only way that I see to restore sanity to our government is to get rid of the bums, who for the past 60 years, have brought us to where we are now through their greed, their drive for personal power, and their incompetency. This November may very well be the last real opportunity the American people have to regain control over their government and return it to a republic based on a constitution.
All my life I’ve been a law-abiding citizen but, when it comes to laws closing these roads and irrationally restricting access to our communally owned land to satisfy the delusional demands of a small group of wacko gaian-ist I think the only recourse left to the people of Emery County, or like minded citizens anywhere else, is to nullify these laws by violating them on a pre-determined date in-mass. I know this is a radical statement that may very well get me branded a “wacko” myself but before you do you might want to reflect on the fact that civil disobedience was successfully used by Ghandi to achieve Indian independence, by African-Americans to successfully achieve equality, and is currently being used by disparate groups throughout the world to achieve their goal and I truly think that radical, non-violent action is the only method that has been left to us to get the attention of the gang of incompetents and crooks that are laughably called our “leaders” and reach the goal of regaining sovereignty over our own public lands.
