Carrol passed away peacefully on Sept. 1, 2010 from conditions incident to age and Alzheimer’s Disease. Carrol was born Feb. 9, 1922 in Mapleton, Utah to Ernest H. Cullum and Edna (Olsen) Cullum, the third of six children.
As a small child he acquired the nickname “Bunk. He was known as “Bunk” his whole life. He married Edna Ramage on May 2, 1942. They solemnized their vows in the Manti Temple in 1955. They had two children.
He worked underground in the Hiawatha mine, he pulled coke ovens at Kaiser Steel’s ovens in Sunnyside, Utah until they ceased oven operations, he then worked underground in Kaiser’s coal mines in Sunnyside. He later moved to Eagle Mountain, Calif. where he worked in the maintenance department at Kaiser’s open pit iron ore mine. His last job was on the tipple at the Des-Bee Dove Mine. His wife of 60 years and best friend passed away in 2002.
He was an active member of the LDS Church, served twice as Bishop, twice on High Councils and held various other callings.
“Bunk” was honest, worked hard, and was respected and liked by those who knew him.
He is survived by his son Loren (Ann) Cullum, Salt Lake City; daughter Paulene (Terry) Carr, Castle Dale; and sister Peggy (Don) Becker, Salt Lake City, eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren
Services will be held Tues. Sept. 7, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Castle Dale Eighth North LDS chapel, 165 North 800 West. A viewing will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church. Interment in the Lawrence Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may share memories of Carroll and sign the guest book at www.fausettmortuary.com.
