MT. PLEASANT/HUNTINGTON: Max L. Collard, age 70 passed away Dec. 20, 2010 after a courageous battle with multiple health problems of many years. He was born Aug. 26, 1940 in Huntington, Utah, the youngest of three boys born to Clarence and Elma Ottsen Collard. Max married his high school sweetheart, Connie Sue Richards on Aug. 1, 1959 in Huntington, Utah.
Max grew up on the family farm, learning the value of hard work at a young age. In high school he was involved in many activities including captain of the basketball team and class president, he graduated from North Emery High in 1958. Shortly after high school he and Connie moved to Salt Lake where Max attended Trade Tech, where he learned to be an electrician. He achieved High Level Five Master Electrician, where he was asked to work on many industrial jobs all over the United States. Max was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Max was a proud member of the IBEW Local 354 for many years. He enjoyed working with leather, fishing, horseback riding, traveling, and being with his family. His greatest enjoyment later in life was spoiling his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a hardworking, dynamic character.
He is survived by his wife, Connie of Mt. Pleasant, children: Sheila (Mitchell) Price of St. George, Brook (Tracy) Collard of Salt Lake City and Jason (Kami) Collard of St. George, 13 grandchildren: Damian Bodine, Anthony Bodine, Ashlee Lolley, Adam Bodine, Gabrial and Keanu Price and Cassandra, Joshua, Jordan, Aubrey, Drew, Hunter and Katie Collard, six great-grandchildren: James Lolley, Yvonne Olsen, Briana Olsen, Jake Bodine, Sariah Lolley and Haley Bodine, brothers: Clifford (Larena) Collard of Huntington and Bruce (Margorie) Collard of Layton. Max was preceded in death by his parents: Clarence and Elma Collard.
Funeral services will be Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center (240 N. Main). A viewing will be held on Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at the Huntington LDS Stake Center and on Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Interment will be in the Huntington Cemetery. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Friends and family may sign the guest book and share memories of Max at www.fausettmortuary.com.
