The sound of concrete cracking and the buzz of a saw are welcome sounds for the Green River Medical Center. This is the beginning of renovation for the 10 year old facility. Green River Medical Center was selected as one of 11 health care centers in Utah to receive stimulus funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The medical center was awarded $303,445 to expand and remodel the current building.
The construction contract was awarded to Moab Construction. Construction started June 1 with the removal of the front vestibule and concrete sidewalks to make room for a new conference room. Infrastructure changes will result in the addition of a third patient exam room. New carpet, paint and work stations are also in the plans. The staff of the medical center and community of Green River are excited to see the transformation over the next few months. This project will enable the medical center to better serve the growing health care needs of the community. Construction is expected to last into September.
