HUNTINGTON-Our beloved husband, father, brother, and grandpa, Perry J. McArthur, age 80, passed away in Salt Lake City, on June 9, 2010. Perry was born on Feb. 21, 1930 in Lawrence, Utah. He married Olive Jensen on Jan. 2, 1954 in Lawrence, Utah their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
Perry served his country during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, serving in many capacities including scout master. Perry belonged to the Blue Ridge Riding Club and was a great cook. He worked for 37 years in the coal mines and was a member of the UMWA. Perry loved farming and his cattle ranch, being in the outdoors, but most of all he loved his family and loved spending time with them especially his grand and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Olive, children: Mavoreen R. (Gale) Anderson, Foster C. (Debra) McArthur, Terry B. (Sandy) McArthur, Alan K. (Julie) McArthur, Arthur J. (Lori) McArthur, all of Huntington, Charlene (Kevin) Peacock of Orangeville, his best friend Little Joe, and Scott and Debra of Mississippi, 17 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, siblings: Celia (Roy) Oviatt, Dixie (Bill) Allred, Deloris (Lynn) Nelson, Donald (Marlene) Jensen, Evelyn Naillon, and Marian Guhlke,
He is preceded in death by both parents, son: Steven, brothers: Wendel and Foster, sister: Carol Oliver, brother-in-law: John, half brothers: Ken, Jack, Ralph, and Charlie.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Huntington First/fifth Ward Chapel (115 S. 400 E.). A viewing was held on Friday, June 11, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale and on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
