VERNAL, UTAH-Gordon David Ehler, 57, returned to his Heavenly Father on May 30, 2010 at his home in Vernal after a difficult battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born on April 26, 1953, in Pocatello, Idaho to Elvin and Carolyn Stocks Ehler. He married Joanne Gail Elmore in the Washington D.C. temple on Aug. 5, 1977.
After serving an LDS mission in Chicago, Ill., he attended BYU and graduated with a degree in agricultural economics. During this time he attended a military school in Fort Lee, Va., where he met and fell in love with his wife, Joanne. Gordon served in the National Guard and the Army Reserves for 25 years. He worked at the Hunter Power Plant for 26 years and then transferred to Rocky Mountain Power in Vernal.
Gordon loved to spend time with his family, camping, riding 4-wheelers, fishing, and traveling. He enjoyed serving others through his church callings. Gordon was a great example of faith and courage.
Gordon is survived by his wife Joanne, his three children Rachel Wallenda, Dane Ehler, and Michelle Westwood. He has six grandchildren, Dawson, Dallin, Camber, and Mason Wallenda; and Addison and Treyson Westwood, whom he loved with all his heart.
Funeral services were held on Thursday June 3, 2010 at the Orangeville Second Ward LDS chapel at 11 a.m., with a viewing from 9:30-10:30 a.m. An additional viewing was held on Wednesday, June 2 from 6-8 p.m. at Fausett Mortuary in Castle Dale. Interment was in the Orangeville City Cemetery.
