PRICE-William Wayne Martin, age 70, passed away peacefully on March 13, 2010 at home surrounded by his loving family after enduring several years with COPD and emphysema.
Bill was born March 21, 1939 in Scofield to William and Pauline (Powell) Martin. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Brinkerhoff on May 9, 1960 in Anchorage, Alaska. This year they would have celebrated their 50th anniversary.
Dad worked hard his whole life. He delivered milk for HiLand Dairy, he was a machinist and welder for Baker Mining, Eimco and Tram, he worked as a janitor for Wayne Middle School in Bicknell, to finally working as a Maintenance Guard for Castleview Hospital where he retired from in 2004.
Dad loved spending the warm summer days outside in his yard. He was always mowing his lawn and watering the flowers. He loved to sit out on the porch and watch the dogs play. Dad loved to laugh. He loved to make others laugh. He was always telling us stories of when he went fishing with his dad, hunting with his friends and the many crazy rock hunts he went on with his brother Johnny. He loved to talk about guns, tie flies and collect coins. Dad loved life and he loved his family. He stuck by mom after her devastating diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis, even though people told her he would leave. He loved us unconditionally. Dad never had a negative thing to say about anybody.
He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy; children Paul Wayne Martin, Wellington, Loriann Keele, Ferron, Kristine (Troy) Asay, Kimberly (Russell) Parish, Price; grandchildren, Kyle Wayne Martin, Yvette Nila Parish, Samantha Jo Asay, Nila Michelle Keele, Tessa Jean Asay and one great-grandson; sisters, Margaret (Ed) Ellis, Price, Betty (John) Brasher, Spring Glen, Bonnie (Bert) Boren, Ogden; brother, John C. Martin, Beaver Dam, Ariz.; in-laws, Dick Brinkerhoff, Bicknell, Earl (Eunice) Brinkerhoff, Surprise, Ariz., Vance (Vanetta) Brinkerhoff, Torrey. Dad also has left behind many nieces and nephews and friends too numerous to count.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Nancy Martin; daughter-in-law, Kathy Martin; mother-in-law, Nila Brinkerhoff; father-in-law, Dennis J Brinkerhoff; sister-in-law, Zola Brinkerhoff; good friend Steve Yamaguchi and best little friend Dolly.
“Billy was our big brother, our hero, and our friend. He was a good son, a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. Billy will be dearly missed and thought of forever with love.”
A memorial will be held at Mitchell Funeral Home on Friday, March 19, 2010 at 1 p.m. Family will be at Mitchell’s one hour prior to services. It was dads wish to be cremated. Friends and family are welcome to share memories and sign the guestbook at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net
