Delta Colorado resident, William Walter Turner, passed away on Monday, Oct. 4, 2010 at his home in Delta. He was 83 years of age.
A funeral service honoring William’s life will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010 at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel, 682 1725 Road, Delta, CO. A visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to service. Burial will be held at the Delta City Cemetery.
William Walter Turner was born to John Robert Turner and Eva Collins on Feb. 8, 1927 in Davie, West Virginia. He spent his childhood and attended schools in West Virginia and Virginia’s Coal Campus.
On Aug. 23, 1947, William married Jennie Mary Ostranski in Vancover, British Columbia. To this union, two children were born. William and Mary had the honor of sharing 63 years of love and marriage together this year. Mary survives.
William, a coal miner, enjoyed hunting, fishing, four wheeling, jeeping and touring the country. He also enjoyed watching football, boxing and he loved his pets. William was a member of the Veterans Administration.
William is survived by his wife, Jennie Mary Turner of Delta; and one son, John R. Turner and his wife Linda of Castle Dale, UT. William is further survived by one grandchild, David William Turner and four great-grandchildren.
William was preceded in death by his daughter, Donna F. Turner; and a granddaughter, Curena Maryee Turner.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in William’s memory to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado, P.O. Box 24, Delta, Colorado 81416; or to the Veterans Administration, 2121 North Ave., Grand Junction 81501.
