Thomas Guy Ware, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, age 46, died Oct. 12, 2010, in Chicago, Ill. He was born Nov. 27, 1963 in Price, Utah to Keith Nelson and Diane Thomas Ware.
Thomas grew up in Orangeville, spending many happy years in Emery County and enjoying the spectacular mountains and deserts. He was especially fond of Cottonwood Canyon and East Mountain. He loved the fall season—the colorful leaves, crisp mornings, and deep blue skies. Thomas graduated from Emery High School in 1982. He then attended Utah State University in Logan, where he received a degree in psychology, and later earned a master’s degree at Westminster College in Salt Lake City. Thomas worked in the mental health field for many years in Salt Lake City, and then later in Chicago.
Thomas had many interests including family, gardening, amateur astronomy, books, nature, current events, and good conversation. He had a remarkably quick intellect, and an incredible sense of humor. He was passionate about human rights, and was an avid supporter of Amnesty International.
Thomas is survived by his parents, Keith and Diane Ware of Orangeville; his sister, Jennifer (Jeffrey) Johnson of Orem; and his brothers, Stuart (Brenda) Ware of Salt Lake City, and Dennis (Tami) Ware of Orangeville. He is also survived by four nieces and eight nephews; three grand-nieces and three grand-nephews; and best friends Robert Stewart, Ron Brown and Tracy Wilcox. Thomas took particular enjoyment in his nieces and nephews and treated them as if they were his own children.
Thomas was preceded in death by his brother, Douglas; and by his sister, Leslie.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010 in Castle Dale. It was a beautiful fall day, the type of day that Thomas would have truly loved. He was later buried in the Orangeville cemetery.
