WELLINGTON-Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and long time friend Karolyn Olson MacLean passed away after a brief battle with cancer peacefully on July 19, 2010 while surrounded by her family.
She was born on Dec. 9, 1935 in Wellington Utah to Carl and Frankie Bentley Olson where she was raised in Wellington on the family farm. Over coming her battle with polio at an early age she continued on and graduated from Carbon High School.
On Oct. 19, 1955 Karolyn graced James MacLean, a sailor with the United States Navy, with her hand in marriage and they remained loving partners for 55 years. Karolyn and James traveled the United States living from Rhode Island to California. Along the way Karolyn produced the pride and joy’s of her life, her four children. She was an avid cook, known by her friends and family for her fabulous dishes. Karolyn also loved to sew, making quilts for each one of her great-grandchildren. She loved to sing and especially enjoyed taking to song with her sisters. Never having a lesson Karolyn was a beautiful piano player. Her heart was as big as the ocean and she never met a stranger. She was sweet, charming and caring and has many lifetime friends whose love for her will survive her in death.
Karolyn is survived by her husband James MacLean, Strawberry, Ariz.; four children, Jim (Evelyn) MacLean Price, Utah, Cindy (Chuck) Ackerman, Yorba Linda, Calif., Debbie (Carl) Weber, Wellington, Utah, Doug MacLean, Vernal, Utah; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; five sisters and three brothers, Joyce (Gary) Williams, Salt Lake City, Utah, Loretta (Tom) Ward, Wellington, Utah, Jeneane (Butch) Powell Wellington, Utah, Marty (Rhonda) Olson, Wellington, Utah, Brenda (Doug) Knots, Ferron, Utah, Frank (Vonnie) Olson, Price, Utah, Karla (Mike) Park, Salt Lake, Utah, Gordon (Jennie) Olson, Huntington, Utah; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Frankie Olson, and grandson Charles Ackerman.
Funeral service, Monday, July 26, 2010, 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family was at Mitchell’s Monday one hour prior to service. Interment, Wellington City Cemetery. Karolyn’s request was in lieu of flowers, that memorial donations may be made to Hospice Compassus, 511 S Mud Springs Rd, Payson, Ariz., 85541.
