Boy Scouts of America Celebrating 100 years – A Shining Light

By By

For the first time in the history of the Boy Scouts of America, we will be bringing the entire Scouting community together for a single, nationwide event to celebrate our organization and reflect on what it has meant to millions of America’s youth.
On July 31 at 5:30 p.m., the scouting family of Carbon District-past, present and future-will be able to take part in a special nationwide broadcast. A Shining Light Across America will bring the Centennial Celebration Show from the 100th Anniversary National Scout Jamboree in Fort AP Hill, Va. to communities across the country via webcast. Locally we will be sponsoring this event at the Geary Theatre at USU/CEU, Price. Attendance requires pre-registration and more information can be obtained by calling (435) 637-8059 or by emailing John Behn at jobehn@utahscouts.net.
As part of this monumental event, local council, district, unit, and other scouting groups across America will gather in venues large and small – whether a camp, community center, or a sports stadium-to host their own local activities leading up to the Shining Light broadcast. We are encouraging everyone to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the magic that has marked 100 years of the Boy Scouts of America. Members of the entire community at large-scouts, scouting volunteers, alumni, families and community supporters-are invited to join in the festivities in Price starting with the International Days Parade Saturday morning in which scouts and adult scouters will be marching accompanied by a contingent of antique tractors.
Scouting activities will then transition into a spectacular scouting expo Saturday afternoon on the grounds in front of the business education building of USU/CEU.
We look forward to shining a light on our rich heritage, on our core values and on our role in shaping America’s youth. We hope you will join in the celebration.
