CARBONVILLE-Our loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Harvey Pete Howard, age 76, passed away peacefully Jan. 31, 2011 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center surrounded by his loving family, after battling diabetes for many years.
He was born in his grandpa Howard’s house in Huntington on Jan. 25, 1935 to Robert Harvey and Florence Douglas Howard.
Married Darlene Carlson the love of his life, March 1,1966.
She died Dec. 27, 2010.
He spent two years in the U.S. Army and was very proud of it.
Pete and his family lived in Montana for years, where he worked construction. They came back to Price and Pete went to work in the coal mines and retired from Price River Coal Co. Local #8622. He was a warm kind hearted man and a hero to his kids and grandkids. Pete was famous for some of the best tomatoes raised in Carbon County.
Survived by his daughter, Jenai Davis, Price; son, John Michael Howard, Ferron; brothers, James (Beverly) Howard; Doug (Karlene) Carter; grandchildren, Matthew, Heather, Daniel, Erica, Jonathan, Michelene; great- grandson, Jaxton; many loving nieces, nephews, and a community of friends.
Preceded in death by his loving wife; parents; sons, Matthew and Eric Howard, sister Dovelene and Fred Basso, daughter-in-law, Edith Howard.
Graveside service, Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011, 1 p.m. Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home in Price.
