Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Margaret Butler passed away at home in the loving arms of her husband and sweetheart, Ross in Price, Utah. Margaret was born July 27, 1930 in Susanville, Calif. to David Scott and Dorothy Thomasson Mitchell. She was the second of five children. Margaret met Ross Butler at her childhood elementary school and fell in love. In High School they began dating, and on Feb. 15, 1953 they were married in Susanville and later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Margaret graduated from Lassen Union High School in 1948 followed by further academics at the University of California, Berkley where she graduated with Honors receiving her BS degree in Business Administration. Margaret’s professional career began with Capwell’s in Oakland and then advancing to the role as a buyer for the Emporium in San Francisco, Calif. Later in life after raising her family, she held positions with Mountain Bell Telephone and the College of Eastern Utah. She also worked side by side with Ross as he served as a Forest Ranger in the National Forests of Southern and Eastern Utah.
Her greatest joys were with her sons and grandchildren. She loved them deeply and often expressed how wonderful and talented they truly are. Margaret was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. For many years she served as a leader in the Young Women’s program. She excelled in motivating and building character in the young women she was blessed to work with. She willingly accepted and served in various callings in the Relief Society. Margaret was a devoted Visiting Teacher always taking special care to minister to the sisters she was assigned.
Margaret is survived by her husband Ross Butler, and sons and grandchildren, Brett (Jenae), Logan, Utah; children, Ian, Anna and Ryan Butler; Gregory (Lori), Sandy, Utah; children, Makenzie and Connor Butler; siblings, Evelyn (Stan) Gallagher, Mill Valley, Calif.;
Mary Lynn Reed, Alameda, Calif.; John (Olivia) Mitchell, Prineville, Ore.; brothers-in-law Bud Murrillo, Anderson, Calif.; Mark (Bev) Butler, Idaho Falls, Idaho; and Leland (Joyce) Butler,
Penn Valley, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, sister Katy Murillo, and a nephew, Scott Gallagher.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 11 a.m. in the Price North Stake Center, 449 North 100 East in Price. A viewing will be held Saturday 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will be at the Cliffview Cemetery, Price, Utah.
